Today, during the first two periods, majority of the 6A was in the canteen, helping out 6H's oral. i had a huge challenge. "This is a challenge for you," Miss Chia told me, as she sent Addison to me.

I gulped in a mouthful of air, as I saw him heading towards me. Don't get me wrong, I am not scared of him!

I knew that Addison is totally not interested in this session, as he dragged his feet towards my table. He sat opposite to me. All he had as resources was about 6 pieces of crumpled and torn papers. I was really really looking forward to this session. Looking at Addison, I felt totally discouraged.

I scrutinized Addison. Bruises everywhere. Yet, he doesn't know what bruises is! Really! We started with reading first. First thing, it was very monotonous! I never heard such reading (okay, may be in my MT school)! Then he could not know words like, appliances, determination, leading, Esplanade, praise bruise, ravenously, avid, etc etc., let alone pronouncing it. There is alot more about this Addison. But I will keep it for some other time. Tomorrow is Mother Tongue Prelim. Mum is nagging (as usual) to do last minute revision.

Signing off from home
at 31.7.08, 6.57 p.m.

To my beloved group, Miss Chia and 6A,

I will not be attending Science Enrichment/ Supplementart. I will be having Mother Tongue Preliminary Examination, Paper 1 & Paper 2, at First Toa Payoh Primary School. I have to assemble there by 3.30 p.m. But due to the long distance, I will have to leave very early.

To my group only,

I will leave my glitter pens with Eunice. If you want to have the Free Pen Trade, tell Eunice. So that my pens can be contributed. Eunice, I will be borrowing your Biology Book during Monday, MT time.

To 6A,

Study Hard for Science and all your subjects. Remember Finishing Line 1 (PSLE Oral) will be coming in about another two weeks' time. Have Fun! While I suffer in silence! LOL!!! :]

Today was my Mother Tongue Oral. I was pretty confident this time. For, I knew the difference in all the double letters. So I could pronounce it properly. Okay, the pronunciation may secure say, 3 marks. But I did stammer once or twice. Once, I gave a pause that was too long. Why? I was lost in my mother tongue dictionary. I couldn't gather the right words. In the end, I some how managed to do so.

So what was the worst part?

Whatever (crap) I said was recorded in a tape. And some unknown teacher, Miss Anonymous, from the other school would check. Arghhhh. I can only hope that it is a lenient teacher. Pray hard...:)

& spongebob is cute 2:49 PM

Okay, so where did I stop? Let me check... Hmmm... Okay.

The boy inside (or as I would rather say, victim), was trembling too. A teacher was there trying to console him. There was a sign also. It said, 'Brush your teeth'.

So how did I start?????

"Though there are many signs like 'Brush your teeth' in a dental clinic, nothing seems to encourage students, or any one else to visit the dentist regularly." That was my introductory line. Great?

May be not so great later on. I don't really remember what I had said on Friday. I wanted to say the dentist, on one occasion. But something else came out of my mouth. "The dental..."

Shit! I thought to myself. So, I said , "The dental nurse"

That, my friend, is thinking on your feet. Only the wearer of the watch will know how much it costs. Get it? It means, only you know what you have prepared for. The judges or examiners have no clue about it. So, my tip to you would be, think on your feet. If you commited an error, don't say, 'sorry' or 'I mean' try to rectify. Twist it.

So, yesterday was all about oral. Today will be all about what happened in the oral :)

And my tester was the legendary, and 'beloved'...Mrs...Foo! Everybody takes her to be a real fierce teacher, but, I thought that as friend she is pretty cool. LOL. She was very friendly! But still, you can't judge a book by its cover. Or face. Or, whatever! Really!! Miss Chia told us to talk to the examiner, during the conversation, like we are friends who are chit-chatting. That was a part of last minute revision. Talk like, you are not prepared! That will make the conversation sound original! That is what a chit-chat with friends are like. Original...

The picture depicts... That is how majority will start. But, today, I am proud to say that I do not use that phrase as a introductory paragraph. Yipeee! Okay, may be now I am going to use it. LOL :). The scene depicted a dental clinic. There t queue of three boys at the clinic's entrance. The last boy was behaving like a monkey (somewhat like me:D). The boy in the middle was a nerdy boy (I didn't tell Mrs Foo that), reading a book.

In front of him was a boy eating chips (Hey, give me some!). A boy was leaving the clinic too, rubbing his jaw. Sad life for him.

Sorry, but, I will continue tomorrow. I want to change my blog skin to something Elmo-ish! Haha! Bye!

Almost everyone has an ambition in life. Like this girl in this picture. She must delivering a speech, titled "My Ambition", to her classmates. Why I say so is because, behind her, there is a whiteboard with the writings, "My Ambitions".

This girl must be very glad to talk about her ambition. She must be a very confident girl. In my class, less than a handful girls are confident to do public speaking.

There is lady in this classroom, who seems angry. Why should not she? While someone is talking, two boys are fighting. They are fighting even after a girl in front of them is hushing them. They should not fight. Not only because it is disrespectful for the speaker, but also it can cause harm to themselves. The boys also seem angry. One of them must have done or said something to offend the other person, hence the fight started. I hope they stop real soon.

The rest of the class is listening attentively. That is the right attitude to showw when someone is talking. The rest are also smiling to show encouragment for the speaker. To me, that is an ideeal behaviour classmates should show. They can have competitions, but healthy ones. They should support each other instead of fighting with each other.

To conclude, I would love to say that everyone, except for the two fighting boys, in the classroom are great helpers and classmates.

Music lessons are always enjoying. Or so they say. In this music lesson, almost everybody is enjoying. As the charming music teacher plays a melodious tune on her piano, most of her pupils are playing it o their recorder. Four of the pupils are not playing their respective recorders. All of the pupils have a book with them. Perhaps, it is their music book, as it has musical notes. But what I can say is that the pupils are referring to that book. The book must be having the notes for the tune they are playing.

Two of the four pupils not playing are boys. One of the boy is hitting the other boy, who is in front of him, with his recorder. Well, he should stop not only in my opinion, but in any one's opinion. Not only is this act rude, also, it can injure the boy severely. Judging by the boy's expressions and the way he is holding the recorder to hit the other boy, it seems that the boy is a mean bully. Bully's hurt people mentally and physically. In this case physically. It is even worse if the victim has not done a single thing to offend him.

This boy should mend his ways now, at a young age. Or else as he grows he may move on to bigger crimes like murdering. All this boy needs is values. My teacher has taught me that values build life. So, to conclude, I would say that instead of hitting, the boy should play the tune, played by his class.

The remaining two of the four not playing are both girls. The girl in the front has long hair tied in a bundle. She is angrily staring at the girl behind her, who has short hair. The girl in the front has no recorder but only her music book. If she has forgotten to bring her recorder, then she should tell her teacher.

The other girl has a recorder. I do not know why but, she is looking scared. I feel that the girl in the front is a bully. If she is a bully, then she should stop bullying. Bullying is not a pleasant act. The same thing which I had mentioned earlier about the boy-bully, applies to this girl-bully.

I still feel that music lessons are wonderful. But those who do not contribute to the pleasantness of this lessons should contribute.

A scene of a hospital ward is usually heart breaking to me, as it depicts patients in all kinds of conditions. This picture here also shows a scene, where an elderly man has his leg on a cast. He must have broken it. His right hand is resting on his stomach as his eyes remains closed. A caring and loving nurse is putting a soft pillow under the man's head. Judging by this man's condition, I will say that this elderly man had met with an accident not so long ago.

The ambiance in the ward seems quite pleasant. There are flowers on the cabinet, which is next to the patient. I also see a few wires plugged into the power point. In my science lessons I have learnt that when wires are plugged to a power point, electricity will be transmits into the wires. May be in this case, the electricity is transmitted into the ward bed so that it can move when required.

As the warded man rests in his ward's bed, a lady holding a purse next to the patient stares angrily at two mischievous children. The lady could be the man's daughter, the visiting her warded father. While the two children may be the lady's kids. The reason why I call the children mischievous and why their mother is staring angrily at them is simple. The two kids are running around when they are not supposed to!

In my opinion, the two children should not do so to ensure security. The ward is not so big, so it will not be able to accommodate two jovial young children. The children may fall and hurt themselves. Also, the two children may cause something untoward if they continue running like this. They may not only injure themselves, but they may also injure the recovering patient. That would not be nice at all. So the best is that they should not run here.

I hope that the patient recovers real soon. And I also hope that the two children stop running. If everyone cooperates, then the hospital will have lesser heart breaking scenes.

& spongebob is cute 5:15 PM

A picture depicting a wonderful scene of singing may not always necessarily be pleasant. Just like this picture. A banner hung behind a group of six says, "The Fantastic Six". On both its side, there are five balloons and a few strings.

In a stage, six young children take the stage. There are three microphones. The children are singing melodiously. But two of them, one boy and one girl, are not. The boy, who is wearing spectacles, is holding on to his stomach as he displays a sick face. Judging by his posture, looks and behaviour, he definitely has stomach ache. His stomach ache may be due to his digestive system or because he has stage frights. If he has stage frights, then he should learn to overcome it.

The other girl who is also not singing is holding the sick boy. She seems worried for him. I hope that the boy recovers soon, so that the performance can run smoothly.

The remaining four are confidently still singing. I like their attitude. Even after two of their singers are not singing, they still are singing as though nothing has happened. Looking at this scene reminds me of a speech competition I had participated in recently. One of the contestants had dropped the clip mike while demonstrating a violent act. But she still carried on as though nothing had happened. This kind of behaviour shows confidence.

Meanwhile, a lady clad in a stripped blouse and a long skirt is anxiously heading towards the sick boy. She seems to be the teacher-in-charge of the concert. She is obviously worried. I mean, people would not like the show which they have created, with so much of hard work, to be a flop.

The teacher-in-charge does not seem to be the only person worried about the sick boy. A man seated third from the right, displays a very worried expression upon looking at the sick boy. He might be a relative of the boy. Perhaps, his father. And no father would like to see his beloved son to fall sick on his performance. The remaining four people I can see seem to be okay.

I would really love to be present at this concert, as I love musical performances. I hope that the rest of this performance runs as smoothly as it is now. This concert is sure to be a lovely and an entertaining one.

Yesterday, my brother made me hide in one of those cabinets in the kitchen. For 5 stinking minutes! When my dad found out that, he said that that is where all the germs (or even snakes in some cases) stay. And now I have come down with runny nose and fever.

Well, there was the blocked nose about two hours ago. But my neighbour used reflexology to cure it. She is not sure about fever and runny nose, or she would be more than glad to help...

Oh...I feel sooo miserable... Any one knows how to cure it? Help me!!

At first I used to pray to get sick. Why? So that instead of nagging, my mum would serve me. I don't want to be sick anymore! HELP ME!!

HI! Yesterday was composition prelims. Miss Chia has already announced that the question was easy. That is, if you revised 100% wholeheartedly. If you did not, then too bad.

Okay, enough lecture/nags. LOL. I am one of the rare people who wrote question two. I wrote that the bag shown in the picture wasn't the bomb. But I wrote a bomb plot. Okay, I will reveal what I wrote. I wrote that an international terrorist is on the loose. And the bag shown wasn't the bomb, but just a plain prank. Then, there was a bomb. And, I was one of the girls. The other girl was my friend who died (duh, everyone in 6A will write about deaths).

So what were we doing in the mall? We were shopping for a gift. For the most cutest guy in school, Kyle (Kyle Patrick is hot). It was his birthday, and I was bent upon impressing him. Don't get me wrong, but I so do not share a BGR with Kyle Patrick. I am just addicted to him. And I do not share a BGR with any guy!

That clear, let me explain how my friend, Lily, died. We were trapped inside. While we were escaping, I was on the lead. Lily was behind me. When I finally made it out, a concrete slab fell on Lily and she died. The end. Ha ha.

Last Saturday, was, as usual, my mother tongue school. But something not usual was that I was going there excitedly. Usually, I would drag my feet, I would be very reluctant to go there. As though my doom awaits there (somewhat, it does). But last week, it something else. You see, the previous week, my teacher said that another new teacher would be coming in from the following week. I was very very happy! I did not like my ex-teacher. She was boring, humiliating and all the other not-okay stuff rolled into one person. So you can imagine how happy I was to know that she is going to get out of my life! I was counting the hours to the class ending time. The last few hours of her in my life! Hooray!

Lesson was over. And a week flew. Soon, I found myself eagerly waiting for the new teacher to come. My best friend there, Drima aka. Ashley, said that her mother knows the teacher.

The minutes ticked by. 5 minutes. 10 minutes.

"Dude, this teacher rocks, time wise! I hope she doesn't take the 10 minutes from our beloved recess," Ashley said from behind me. I nodded

Just then a pretty lady clad in a plain yellow sari stepped in the class. She briefly introduced herself. Then she started giving us our marked homeworks. She called each one of us, one by one. She told us where we went wrong and what the correct answer ought to be. I was IMPRESSED! Finally! A teacher who explains! That is exactly what I want! After that she informed us that the following week would be our oral prelims. NO ONE knew. We were terribly shocked! Seeing our shocked faces, She asked us if we knew that there would be oral prelims the following week. Damn! The ex-teacher did not tell us that.

Nevertheless, she told us to concentrate only on oral that day. She made us do the reading till perfection. Practice makes perfect.

Oral...Oral...Oral...

As Ashley had said earlier, this teacher rocks time wise. And she indeed does. She let us off for recess 5 minutes befor usual time. And then came back to class 5 minutes late. LOL :D

I really like this teacher. She rocks!

Oh yeah, her name... Her name is Madhuchhanda. Long? Well its meaning is sweet. It means sweet moon or honey moon. And that is what she is. Sweet like honey...

This one is not so recent. 3 weeks ago, this happened. It was on a Saturday. The following day would be holiday. So, I decided to watch TV. Before, I start, you should get one thing very clear, all Indians simply love cricket. I don't mean Kampong Cricket. The cricket with all the jargon like innings, outs, wicket, runs etc. And I am not different from those 1.12 billions Indians who are a part of the cricket craze. In fact, once, when I was MSN Online Chatting with Tejas, I found out that he, MingYou and some other guys were going to play cricket. My eyes had popped out. Did MingYou even know the basic rules of cricket?

Any ways, back to the post. About 3 weeks ago, on Saturday, I was watching the Asia Cup 08 Finals. The battle was between Sri Lanka and India.

For your information, here are the scores:
Sri Lanka - 274
India - 169, all out

The results were sooo disappointing. Its like after coming sooooo close to the victory line, India lost. From here I can clearly make out the finishing line analogy Miss Chia gives frequently.

& spongebob is cute 4:32 PM

A week ago, I was jumping with joy. A day ago, I was lamenting.

Shit! Shit!! Shit! That was what I murmured to myself when I was not one of the 8 who were chosen for the finals. Well, that is not the only reason. Do you want to know what was my rank out of the 18 people who participated in the finals? Position 9! Arghhhhhh! Just one rank. Just one rank...I lamented. I felt so left out. I felt like a looser. Now I know how Alexia, Farah and the basketball team felt this year, when they lost, after coming so close to the winning line. But, I was happy for a new found friend there, who made it. I tried to suppress my agony of loosing, with the joy of a friend winning. But to no avail. The agony won over the joy.

But, personally, I thought I had what it takes to be one of the final 8. I felt I had the passion. But I felt two of the selected 8 did not have that. They, forgot lines, spoke Singlish. I thought it was only me. May be the anger of loosing. May be I was trying to console myself. That I deserved it but the 2 did not. So I went to ask the friend who made it. She too, felt it. Then I thought, she is too young. How can she tell that? So, next I asked a few adults. They had the same feelings too!

Were the 2 of them really not deserving candidates?

Nevertheless, I came home feeling dejected, with Miss Seet. Told my mum the results. Nags. Can't feel angry at her. Was still lamenting over my defeat. Switched on computer. Signed in to MSN. A few people were online. Then, I started chatting with Catherine. Told her that I had lost.

I started to pour my feelings to her. She gave a keen listening ear. After listening, she started to console me, by saying, I had strong competitors. And I was strong too. She also said that, I had already given my very best. She also tried to add humour, by saying, if she were there, she would be the first person to be out in the preliminary round itself. LOL. After listening to her consolations, I felt better. I always heard in TV, that a listening ear helps. Yesterday, I experienced it too.

But one thing Miss Seet told me to console me, I have defeated 30 over people. Isn't that a great achievement itself?

Today, I told Miss Chia. Se asked me to asked myself that, what did I not have, that the winning 8 has. I still can't find the answer. Will update you when I do so.

I would just like to make my point clear. Counselling helps. Especially, if you know that person. And the person knows you.

Hi! I am proud to have been one of the 6 semi finalists in the YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards (YMCA PESA)! You must have not seen me on Thursday, 3rd July. I came to school only for about 1 hour. Then I left with Miss Seet for the competition. By the way, YMCA PESA is a speech competition.

I didn't come back till 10 minutes to dismissal. The whole class was cheering for me, when they found out about my victory. Was feeling very, very proud.

The competition was tough with some competitors. But a handful were not prepared. They were like mumbling, forgetting parts of the speech, etc.

But the weird part is, that when I was rehearsing at home, I couldn't even utter a word in front of my parents. Then at the competition, the words were like coming out on their own! Cool!

Any ways, semi finals will be on Wednesday, 9th July. After school, 2 pm. Bye! Gotta practice even harder!
